Worcester Greenstar 2000 25kW and 30kW review

The Worcester Greenstar 2000 25kW & 30kW Review

The Worcester Greenstar 2000 25kW & 30kW are Worcesters entry level (Budget) combi boilers, suitable for apartments, small and medium sized homes with one bathroom.

The Greenstar 2000 is worcesters offer to the low end market, giving everybody an opportunity to have the market leading Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler at a low budget price tag.

The Greenstar 2000 is now fully compatible with third party external 230V controls and a wider range of Worcester controls, from mechanical to connected controls.

The comfort 2 room thermoset is plug and play, making it so quick easy that you'd be mad to fit anything else.

But still it's not Opentherm compatible, which is a big disappointment to me as this means no load compansation with the likes of Nest and Honeywell smart room thermostats.

With hot water flow rates up to 12 l/min on the 30kW and 10 l/min on the 25kW.

Central heating output is 4.8kW to 20kW

Domestic hot water output 4.8kW to 25kW and 4.8kW to 30kW

The range also comes with a 5 year guarantee as standard, and a 6 year guarantee when installed with the Greenstar System Filter, this will obviously raise the cost, and the Worcester filters are expensive, so this raises the overall cost away from other entry boilers towards a mid range price tag, but saying that, 6 years for an entry level boiler is actually very good.

A 10 year guarantee on the primary heat exchanger.

Maximum flue lengths of 9M horizontal and 12M vertically.

Worcesters quietest Combi Boiler to date at 43 decibels.

Removable side panels making life easy for maintenance.

This boiler can modulate down to 4.8kW in central heating.

It uses the Aluminium C6 heat exchanger which is an upgraded WB6 (kebab) a tried and test heat exchanger.

Unfortunately the condensate can only be run and terminated internally as standard.

The expansion vessel is forward facing and has a copper pipe, this is a great improvement from worcester.

The boilers dry weight is 36kg, so it's heavier than other 25kW boilers that I normally fit.

Comes with a wilo pump.

The plate is very accessible and easily changed with just 1 screw.

Unfortunately again worcester have opted for plastic components, this is something I was hoping worcester would move away from, only time will tell if these leak like previous models did.

Boiler dimensions are width 400mm, height 724mm, depth 300mm.

Unfortunately it does not come with a filling loop, this is all an extra expense that puts the boiler above an entry level price.

Overall I think this is a very good boiler, if you really wanted a worcester and were on a budget then this is the budget boiler for you.

I'd personally go for a baxi platinum with a 10 year warranty which works out the same price as the Worcester Greenstar 2000.
