Winter is here and so are Boiler breakdowns November 05, 2017 We have had a couple of cold starts in the past week which has seen the work phone ringing like mad from 7 am all day, and the truth is that all the breakdowns have been from a result of lack of good maintenance, these Breakdowns could have been avoided, some of these were small system faults like the odd rad not working or not getting hot enough, these could of all ben dealt with on a yearly service, if you time your annual service right then you can get these things sorted out before the cold weather sets in, most radiator faults are just issues with air or thermostatic valve pins stuck in, also some have been small heating blockages, which can be dealt with cheaply, it is so important to have clean system water, treating the system on a yearly basis with inhibitor is by far the best thing a homeowner can do, I personally suggest a quality magnetic system filter too, like the Fernox TF1 Omega, which can be installed on to the primary return pipework, and this will also provide an easy dose point for express chemicals to be added, as a homeowner its important that you don't neglect your heating system, a chemical flush may be required within its life, also upgrades to radiators, lockshield and Thermostatic valves, system bypasses and system design type, like converting it to a sealed system, also converting controls to a more reliable setup with quality branded controls like a Honeywell S plan, and upgrade to a TPI room Compensation Thermostat with something like the Honeywell DT90 which is cheap but it will give you much better performance then a normal room Thermostat, If you live in my working area of Horsham District, then please call me for a service or any repair or upgrade work.Horsham, Southwater, Broadbridge Heath, Slinfold, Billingshurst, Steyning, Storrington, Ashington, Rudgwick, Cowfold, Pulborough, Warnham, Henfield, Bramber, Upper Beeding, Partridge Green, Rusper & Faygate.
