• Controls Compatibility: While it’s fully compatible with a range of Worcester and third-party 230V controls, it is not Opentherm compatible. This means you won’t get the energy-saving 'load compensation' features with popular smart thermostats like Nest or some Honeywell models, which is a big disappointment for me.

• Hidden Costs: To get the full 6-year guarantee (up from the standard 5-year), you must install the Greenstar System Filter. The Worcester filter is quite expensive, which pushes the total cost of your new Worcester combi boiler towards the mid-range price bracket. It also doesn't come with a filling loop as standard, which is another small extra cost.

• Plastic Components: Worcester has unfortunately opted for some plastic components on this model. Only time will tell if these become an issue like they did on some previous models.

My Professional Verdict and Alternative Option

Overall, the Worcester Greenstar 2000 is a very good boiler. 

If you are a homeowner in Henfield or Storrington and you are determined to have a Worcester Bosch, this is a great way to get their brand quality on a budget.

However, as your local Gas Engineer, my professional advice is that when you factor in the compulsory filter and lack of Opentherm control, you might find more value elsewhere. 

Personally, I often recommend the Baxi Platinum which offers a fantastic 10-year warranty and often works out to be a very similar price as the Greenstar 2000 fully installed.
