Signs Your Boiler Needs Servicing

Knowing and acknowledging the signs that your boiler could be in need of servicing is crucial to keeping it in good condition. Signs That Your Boiler Needs Servicing 

Just like an MOT, for a car your boiler needs the care, attention and maintenance it deserves to keep it operating efficiently and smoothly.  There's a number of signs that could indicate that your boiler could be in need off servicing and potentially repair and we're here to tell you them; 

Strange Noises 

If your boiler has been producing unusual noises regularly, it could indicate that there's a problem. These noises range from whistling, rattling and clanging sounds. What could cause them? There's actually several possibilities for your boiler producing strange noises;

  • You boiler could be suffering from an inefficient fan.
  • Damaged heat exchanger.
  • build-up of iron in the boiler system.
  • A potentially broken heat pump.

As you can see, there's a variety of possibilities that could be causing unusual noises during the operation of your boiler. However, you should have a Gas Safe registered engineer conduct the appropriate tests and checks. 

Unusual Smells 

Believe it or not, boilers can become dangerous. A Boiler that is producing unusual smells could indicate a gas or fuel leak. If this is the case, it should be dealt with immediately by a Gas Safe registered engineer to prevent the possibility of a fire or explosion. 

Water Leaking  

The final sign that your boiler could be in need of servicing is that your boiler is experience water leaks. Typically, leaking boilers use more energy, which means higher fuel consumption and possibly increasing the costs of operating it. Similar to unusual smells, if you notice a leak, it should be dealt with immediately, so not to worsen the situation, such as corrosion and possible rupture of the boiler itself.
