How to Save Money on Your Gas Consumption.

We would always suggest that you speak with an expert boiler and heating engineer before altering your boilers flow temperature.

The cost of gas is on the rise, so it's more important than ever to find ways to save money on your gas consumption. One easy way to do this is to turn down your boiler thermostat.

Most people set their boiler thermostats to 70°C or higher, but this is actually much hotter than necessary. In fact, the Energy Saving Trust recommends setting your boiler thermostat to 60°C. This will still provide plenty of heat for your home, but it will use less gas. (this is dependent of the actual size of your existing radiators and heat loss from the building)

How much money can you save by turning down your boiler thermostat? According to the Energy Saving Trust, you could save up to £100 a year on your gas bills by simply turning it down by 10°C.

Of course, the amount of money you save will depend on a number of factors, such as the size of your home, the type of boiler you have, and the climate you live in. But even if you only save a small amount of money, it's still worth doing.

Here are a few tips for turning down your boiler thermostat without sacrificing your comfort:

  • Gradually reduce the temperature over time. Don't try to turn it down too much too quickly, or you'll start to feel cold. Instead, gradually reduce the temperature by a few degrees every week until you reach 60°C.
  • Make sure your home is well-insulated. The better insulated your home is, the less heat you'll need to keep it warm. So if you haven't already, consider investing in some insulation.
  • Close the curtains or blinds at night. This will help to keep the heat in at night and prevent your home from getting cold overnight.
  • Use a timer on your heating. This will help you to avoid wasting energy by heating your home when you're not there.
  • Get your boiler serviced regularly. A well-maintained boiler will be more efficient and use less gas.

By following these tips, you can save money on your gas consumption and keep your home warm and comfortable all winter long
